Capturing Meeting Summaries

Last updated Oct 18, 2026

Overview

Introduction

The meeting summaries feature helps you capture, organize, and polish your meeting notes and audio recordings. When you record a call or upload a transcription, the system processes your audio to generate structured summaries, clean transcripts with attributed speakers, and actionable tasks. You can organize your meetings using custom tags and refine your notes using AI tools.

Step 1: Capturing Audio and Transcripts

You can record calls directly or upload meeting audio to generate transcripts and summaries.

  1. Start a recording: In the desktop app or from a meeting reminder, click Join & record or press Record when your call starts. The system captures both your microphone and the call audio.
  2. Review the transcript: Once you hang up, the system generates a transcript that preserves speaker labels and timestamps.
  3. Automatic processing: For transcriptions, the system automatically builds an AI-powered summary broken down into key points, decisions, action items, and follow-ups.

Note

Recording and meeting notes features require a paid plan. Quick add notes are free on every plan.

Step 2: Organizing Notes with Tags

You can assign custom tags to your meetings to categorize them by topic, project, or department (e.g., Customer calls, Engineering, Q1 Planning).

  1. Open your meeting note from the meetings list.
  2. Click on the tag area in the meeting header.
  3. Select existing tags to apply them, or create a new tag by entering a name, picking an icon or color, and adding an optional description.

Tip

Use tag descriptions to detail what kind of meetings belong in that tag. This helps the system understand your categories better.

Step 3: Polishing Summaries with AI Enhancement

If you want to re-generate or refine your AI notes and action items, you can use the enhancement feature.

  1. Navigate to your meeting note detail view.
  2. Click the Enhance button in the header toolbar.
  3. If AI notes already exist, confirm that you want to replace them (your private notes and manually added action items will be safely preserved).
  4. Wait a moment while the system re-analyzes the transcript and updates your summary and action items.

Warning

Re-running enhancement on a meeting that already has AI notes will replace the existing AI-generated summary and extracted action items. Your manual notes remain untouched.

Key Concepts

  • AI Summary: A concise 150–300 word markdown summary containing key points, decisions, action items, and follow-ups attributed to speakers.
  • Clean Transcript: A cleaned-up version of the raw transcript with corrected punctuation, capitalization, and filler words removed while preserving strict speaker order.
  • Action Items: Extracted tasks tied to a meeting that you can check off when completed. They include a title, optional detail, and an assigned attendee.
  • Tags: Organizational labels with custom names, icons, colors, and descriptions applied via set-based membership updates.
